Within the past couple of years, quite a few junior brands have been adding plus size collections. I sometimes wonder, damn, where were you when I was in high school. All we had back in the 90’s was Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart.I remember my freshman year in college was the first time I had actually shopped at a real mall. Living in Brooklyn, NY all of our stores were on a strip and they were all urban style stores. So, when I had my first shopping experience in a mall, I remember trying to squeeze my size 14 body into stores like Aeropostale, Wet Seal, and Charlotte Russe. This was all before they even thought about adding plus. Needless to say, I had some disappointing fitting room moments.
Today, all of those mall stores offer plus sizes and as i said above, I wish they offered it back in the day. I’ve tried all of the plus size or extended sizes from Aeropostale and Wet Seal (seen HERE) and they had some really cute pieces that worked for grown folks like me. Recently, I decided to give Charlotte Russe plus a try and I found quite a few pieces that were not so teeny bopper looking.
While checking out the plus size styles, I landed on a chic faux suede skirt in army green. Army green and suede are popular fall trends, so I knew I couldn’t pass up on it. My eyes then fell upon a cut out shoulder turtleneck. I thought both pieces were sleek and nice options to add to my fall wardrobe.
I decided to wear both pieces together for a transitional fall look. I accessorized with a black and gold suede clutch and a pair of suede lace up gladiator sandals, a gold studded belt, and an over-sized gold cuff.
I ordered both pieces according to their size chart and each piece fit perfectly. Most junior plus size collections run small but Charlotte Russe sizing was pretty accurate.
