The Beyonce Ivy Park x Adidas collection had the internet in a frenzy. The number one reason is because the entire collection sold out in about 6 minutes. The second reason, there was no Ivy Park x Adidas plus size options. As a result, countless plus size women took to social media to not only blast Adidas but to question Queen B about not offering her line in sizes above an XL.
Why Plus Size Women Are Disappointed With Ivy Park x Adidas Collection
Plus size women left comments on Beyonce and Adida’s Instagram pages. In addition there were mini rants posted on Twitter and Facebook expressing their disappointment. Even a few plus size influencers made IGTV videos. Just checkout influencer and event creator Maui Bigelow’s video below.
While there are a myriad of plus size women outraged at Ivy Park x Adidas plus sizes not being offered, I’ve watched a few commentary videos and comments asking plus size women, why should she have included plus sizes. Here’s the deal. When it comes to Beyonce, plus size women feel like she has always been an ally. Beyonce’s backup singers have been plus size and she also uses plus size dancers. So for her not to include plus sizes in the Ivy Park x Adidas collection it felt like a slap in the face to the community.
Since Adidas offers plus size athleisure wear, you would think that their collaborations would too. One thing that is very baffling to me is the thought that plus size people don’t workout or wouldn’t be interested in athleisure wear just because they’re bigger than a size XL. Believe it or not, plus size people do workout. We want to look cute going to the gym like everyone else.
Support These Plus Size Athleisure Brands
On the other hand as a body positive and size diversity advocate I think there are times when the community needs to support brands that are creating stylish and cool clothing in their size. One of the reasons I started this blog was to do my part in shedding light on designers and e-commerce brands that genuinely want to create clothing for plus size women.
Yes plus size women and men should have the option to support their favorite celebrities fashion lines. However, when your faves don’t offer clothing you can fit then use your dollars to help advance and grow smaller brands and designers who do create for plus size women and men. Above all, its better to shop where you’re celebrated and not tolerated.

These are brands that are definitely worth checking out. However, I hope Beyonce sees how much her plus size fans love her and just wanted to support her. While we wish there was an Ivy Park x Adidas plus size line, we need to do better at supporting the brands that support plus size women. Especially when it comes to fashion.
I was not upset that the line did not come in plus size. Not a fan of hers. And I wasn’t going to spend the money she was charging for her line.
