For all you high fashion lovers Lanvin is set to do a designer collection with H&M.
According to Refinery 29:
The launch of both womenswear and menswear will be available on November 20th in 200 H&M stores worldwide. Images from the collection will be available on November 2. Even though Alber Elbaz from Lanvin has been quoted as saying that he’d never do a mass-market collection, he was too tickled at the thought of H&M going luxury: “This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world,” he says. Says Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M, “We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment.
Exciting indeed. Lanvin is a well respected line and worn by the most famous celebrities. This collection is one that I will be standing in line for. I love when designers create affordable lines, I just wish that they would include plus sizes when they do. H&M is probably the most affordable clothing brand that offers the latest styles in fashion, so why haven’t past designers who’ve created affordable lines with H&M include plus sizes.When designers say that it cost too much money to add plus sizes to their collections, it’s opportunities like this that are a great way to include plus sizes. How come no designer has done so yet. In my opinion, a luxury designer line at a store like H&M, Kohls, and even Target would be a match made in heaven. If the designs are great an affordable plus line at any of these budget friendly stores could possibly prove to be a great test run to see the financial response from plus size shoppers.

So true! I love the clothes at H&M but I can never find things to fit my body (size 16) I know they make that size but they are never on the racks. Very frustrating my friend.

I’m so excited that Lanvin is collaborating with H&M! But you are so right, H&M’s clothes seem to be getting smaller and smaller each year! I’m not a plus sized girl but I ain’t a skinny minnie either lol. But I do have friends who are plus sizes and it isn’t fair that these stores aren’t tailoring towards EVERYONES needs, it’s always been only about the smaller sized people and that isn’t right. I thought that we were transitioning out of the whole “emaciated is beautiful” aesthetic that was so popular a few years ago but I guess not. But luckily there are a few brands that are embracing the way a “normal” person is built, I heard a while back that a plus sized line for Marc Jacobs is in the works

A few years ago, before H&M came to California, they did have plus, albeit not in the special designer ranges. From what I heard, the plus stuff wasn’t appealing, didn’t sell, etc., so they pulled it.
I hear you! I’m a size 16-18 and I’m not even sure I will show up at the launch of the collection, because it doesn’t look like any of the clothes are going to fit me – except for the tutu dress, which I don’t really like and it’s $375(!!!) in Switzerland, where I live.
Also, in Switzerland H&M no longer carries any XLs, just XS-L, and the largest size is a 42, occasionally 44. Very annoying.
