WORK-WEAR WEDNESDAY: PRINTED PLUS SIZE SUITS

Hey curvy girls all over the world,

I remember a time when wearing a full matching suit to work felt dowdy to me. This is why I have always been a fan of mixing and matching when it came to work-wear. For the past two summers, I became a fan of colored suits because I thought they were modern and chic. There was nothing old lady or mature woman about them. A colored suit felt youthful, especially ones with a slim leg or pencil skirt. Between my love of colored suits and after attending fashion week last winter, my complete outlook on suits had changed, especially when I noticed that suits were making a big return. From checkered menswear styles to animal prints, this season suits are all about prints.

As I always say, prints are personal and you have to wear what you like. Depending on your office environment you may be able to wear bold prints from head to toe. However, if too much of one print is not your thing, then mix and match. Rock a printed blazer with a solid color pair of pants or skirt or vice versa. Plus Size Suit Fit Tips
-Most plus size women (all women really) rarely can buy a suit off the rack in their exact size. Always fit the largest part of your body and take the suit to the tailor to get a perfect fit.

-If you choose a pant suit make sure the pants hid mid heel. When trying on bring the heels you would wear with them. Again, go to a tailor for hemming needs.

-If you choose a skirt suit, make sure there is no pulling near the hip and stomach area. The skirt should hit right at the knee for office professionalism Skirts and pants should glide over your curves not look like they’re fighting with them

-When it comes to jackets, a good fit is when you can comfortably button the jacket. The jacket should also hit mid hip unless its cropped. If its cropped then it should rest on the top of your hips. Make sure the sleeves are not too big or bulky. Again, you can always visit a tailor to taper the sleeves down.
